What is Optilux?

It is a new technology based on using a narrow band of light delivered through LED’s. The light technology works because cells within the body contain receptors that absorb light naturally. When the body is exposed to light, these receptors absorb the light waves and kick-start a cellular response.

How does it work?

It acts to energise, rejuvenate and repair damaged skin and uneven skin tone and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The light penetrates deep into the skin to stimulate fibroblast activity to naturally boost the production of collagen (the protein responsible for plump, healthy skin).

What results can be expected from a series of treatments?

Many clients exprience an immediate effect, however every client is different. Skin usually looks clearer, brighter and smoother after the first treatment. The length of the course, the clients skin type and texture will determine the overall result.

Optimum results will not be seen until four to eight weeks after treatment.

Are there any side effects from the treatment?

The treatments are highly effective treatments that are safe, painless and do not generate heat, so will not damage the skin. The laser-free light therapy works to encourage the body to stimulate its own healing response. The only safety measure required during treatment is that the client wears goggles to protect their eyes.

There are no reported cases of adverse side effects such as redness or irritation from the treatment and the light does not damage skin in any way.

What actually happens during the treatment?

Makeup and sun block needs to be removed prior to treatment and you are required to wear safety goggles. The light is then positioned close to the face for the treatment, which takes 20 minutes. It is completely painless and there is no recovery period.

The client usually feels a pleasant, warm feeling during your session.

How many courses are recommended?

Optilux can be a single treatment or a course of treatments. A typical course is usually 6 - 9 treatments however a course of nine is recommended for those concerned with fine lines, wrinkles and uneven skin tone. Once a client has completed her course, maintenance treatments on a four to six week basis will help to prolong the results.
